There was a writer once who was working on a four-issue limited series. They had turned in the plot for the fourth issue, but it needed revisions. And then, the writer in question dropped off the face of the Earth—they couldn’t be contacted by phone, e-mail or whatnot. Meanwhile, the artist finished the third issue, and needed the fourth issue plot in order to meet the schedule. So in the end, I rewrote the final plot myself, and it was a bit of a mess.

The writer did eventually resurface, but without a lot in the way of remorse for what had happened. And they did cash the check for the plot that I wound up having to rewrite myself.

Mark my words, the name of this writer will be figured out by the end of the day, and he’ll present his version of the story, and oh, the sparks will fly.
